What are your qualifications?
I have my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s of Social Work from McGill University. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers. My Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) registration number is 822099. See more about me here.
Do I need a referral from my family doctor or physician for your services?
No. You don’t need a referral to book a consultation or a session. I accept self-referrals only.
Are your services covered by OHIP or my Extended Health Benefits?
Psychotherapy and social work are not covered under OHIP. However, the majority of extended health benefits cover psychotherapy. It is important to connect with your insurance provider before beginning therapy. Please confirm if your coverage is for a “Registered Social Worker” and what amount is covered.
Do you do direct billing to my insurance provider?
No. I unfortunately do not provide direct billing. However, I provide invoices and receipts for submission to your insurance provider.
Are psychotherapy sessions tax deductible?
Yes. Revenue Canada recognizes psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Social Worker as an income tax deductible medical expense. I provide invoices and receipts for submission for income tax purposes.
What’s your cancellation policy?
If you cannot make an appointment, please let me know 48 hours prior to your scheduled time. The full fee will be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments.
How do I pay?
I accept payment for services by way of e-transfers. Payment is due at each session. A receipt for all payments will be issued. E-transfer can be sent to clarekarasikmsw@gmail.com. My account is set up with auto-deposit so a password is not required.
Do you see clients in person?
No, at this time my practice is completely virtual. I provide sessions over the phone or on an encrypted video platform.
When are you available to schedule appointments?
I am generally available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for appointments.
Is psychotherapy confidential?
I respect each person’s confidentiality and what is shared in sessions remains private within legal guidelines. As a Registered Social Worker there are limits to confidentiality and I adhere to the guidelines set out by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. All limits to confidentiality will be reviewed during the first session with you.
